It's not necessarily well-known what the Moonies do to your Filipino brides when they will arrive, nevertheless it's thought they're brainwashed (none in the women who arrived ever openly discussed their experiences at that Moonies compound).
However, this back story about the Moonies is not since important as what happened to the Moonies Filipino mail order brides - and other mail order brides - right after they lived with their Korean partners.
While not necessarily known how many are "true" Filipino mail get brides, there are at least 6, 191 Filipino women living in South Korea who are generally married to Korean men. Sad to say, although you can find women who are happily married, some are divorced, lost or were abandoned by their husbands, so much so that in this year, that Philippine ambassador to South Korea himself warned Philippine women against marrying South Korean men.
So what are the men from the get of Samsung and Hyundai working at wrong?
1. Not necessarily sending their wives for a proper Korean language higher education
Language barrier is usually the most difficult struggle to hurdle between Philippine women and Korean men - some Filipino women speak British, most Koreans don't speak English at all.
Regretably, Korean is a rather difficult language to learn especially for English speaker systems, not only because of the basic grammar structure ("I ate an apple" may be "I apple ate" within Korean). It takes at least one year and half of intense language education to cover all the grammar designs and basic vocabulary.
Regretably, many Korean men find it too expensive. or a waste of time to help send their. wives to a proper Korean language school, not even with regard to making their marriage a happy one. Many Filipino women and also other nationalities married to Koreans have to content themselves with free Korean classes once a week at the local cultural centers, which I think is not at all enough.
two. Convinced that wives are there to help serve their husbands
Korean society is basically a Confucian society the location where the men hold a higher set up society. For instance, there's a big difference in salaries between men and women even in big businesses like Samsung.
Relating to the home front, males (especially men on their fifties and older) expect their wives to do all the household operate, cooking and basically the rest. But it's not enough to do everything in your house, the wives are expected to earn their own money.
3. Living with their mothers and/or becoming mama's boys
Except in very rare circumstances, Korean men who ? re the eldest are expected to take care of their parents and live with them in their old grow old. But aside from living up to the following expectation, many men are mama's boys, the majority, nevertheless, are disempowered from standing up to their mothers (together with fathers) when there's a mother-in-law versus daughter-in-law war happening.
This is because in Korean culture, those people who are younger are barred from speaking within a strong voice towards their elders. (Like Japanese, Korean has also different levels of special message, with intimate to honorific.)
